You don’t have to
figure it out alone

Every line on this page is free, confidential, and staffed by people trained to listen. You can call for yourself, or because you are worried about somebody else.

If it’s urgent right now
  1. Call or text 988. It’s free, 24/7, and you don’t have to be suicidal to use it. You can also chat at 988lifeline.org.
  2. If you can’t talk out loud, text HOME to 741741 and a crisis counselor will text back.
  3. Tell one person where you are. A friend, a family member, a coach, a neighbor. Staying alone makes it harder.
  4. Put distance between yourself and anything you could use to hurt yourself. Ask someone to hold it for now.
  5. If there is immediate danger, call 911 and say it is a mental health emergency.
